[REVIEW] Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3

The continuation of the previous very successful 'modern warfare' series comes in a never ending thriller in the form of............http://www.hdwallpapers.in/walls/call_of_duty_modern_warfare_3-wide.jpg
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games (Treyarch for the Wii version), with Raven Software having assisted in development and published by Activision. It is the third and final installment in the Modern Warfare series, a direct sequel to 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and the eighth Call of Duty installment.

Modern Warfare 3 comes to us by way of an older engine, but still looks great. Sure, it's not among the very best out there nowadays, but it performs well. At any given time the screen appears ready to burst with effects and visual madness. Entire battles are waged before you; buildings burn and crumble while a steady flow of explosions batter your senses. This is Call of Duty, and Modern Warfare 3 collects these moments of boom in abundance, presenting them in all their 60 frames-per-second glory. Modern Warfare 3's singleplayer campaign hits many of the same highs and lows as its predecessors. Amazing setpieces serve as backdrops for giant firefights yet again. This is no understatement. Few games retain the crazy roller coaster pace that this does level after level, with brief moments to breathe set between the next eruption of gunplay. The shooting feels extremely responsive and well-tuned, and the battlegrounds challenge your awareness at all times. You're always given different situations that mix-up the gameplay just enough to keep things interesting. The game presents a formidable challenge, as always, on the Hardened and Veteran settings – something that the more hardcore players will want to delve into.

The story is set in the modern world of 20th century, with new weapons and new AI.The story still contains some characters from the previous Call Of Duty games like Captain Price(YES that same old man that didn't die even when he was hit by a cannon ball).
On August 17, 2016, several hours after killing General Shepherd, Captain Price and Nikolai evacuate a critically wounded John "Soap" MacTavish from Site Hotel Bravo, Afghanistan, to a Russian loyalist safehouse in Himachal Pradesh, Northern India. Soap receives medical attention (though still not battle ready), but Vladamir Makarov's forces arrive in an attempt to kill the trio. After the doctor is shot down, Yuri, Nikolai's best soldier, who has as much a grudge against Makarov as Price, gives Soap an adrenaline shot to keep his heart going, and helps secure a safe route out of the country.
Meanwhile, the war between Russia and the United States continues as American forces begin to counterattack, reclaiming many east coast cities and states, forcing the Russians to hold in New York City. The actions of Delta Force's Team Metal — made up of Sgt. Derek "Frost" Westbrook, "Grinch", "Truck", and their C.O. "Sandman" facilitates the Russian military's withdrawal from Lower Manhattan, New York City. They begin by destroying a jamming tower on top of the New York Stock Exchange, then hijack a Russian Oscar II submarine in the East River with the assistance of the US Navy SEALs, in order to use its ordnance against its own fleet. As the result, the Russian fleet suffers heavy losses of ships, land forces are completely isolated, and the American forces began their counter-offensive. Eventually, Russia makes an emergency withdrawal of its forces from the US East Coast.
Two months later on October 4th Russian President Boris Vorshevsky announces his plans to negoiate a peace treaty with the United States at a summit in Hamburg to end their hostilities. However, during mid-flight, Makarov's men hijack Vorshevsky's plane and force it into a crash landing on the tarmac of an airport. F.S.O. Agent Andrei Harkov attempts to secure Vorshevsky, but is killed when Makarov appears inside what the F.S.O. believe to be an evacuation helicopter. Makarov reveals that he and his generals plotted a coup detat to kidnap the President and force him to give the launching codes for the Russian nuclear arsenal that has the capability and destructive power to allow his generals to take over the entire continent of Europe, despite leaving its cities obliterated.
After Soap recovers from his wounds, he, Price, and remants of Task Force 141 follow a lead from Yuri, that leads them to an arms distribution point in Sierra Leone, which they attempt to sneak into. They try and fail to intercept Makarov and his mysterious cargo, but only find evidence of the group transporting it, Fregata Industries; the cargo is distributed to several cities in Europe. In London, a British S.A.S. unit, including Sgt. Marcus Burns and Sgt. Wallcroft, is sent in by the director of MI5 to intercept one of the cargo crates. The crate Wallcroft's unit was pursuing was nothing more than a decoy, and the real device is detonated near Big Ben, releasing toxic chemicals and killing a young American family along with other civilians within its blast radius. Several other detonations occur simultaneously, striking all major cities in Europe, but it paves the way for the Russian military to invade the crippled NATO allied countries in Europe; the United States discovers the attacks were designed to knock out the Intelligence networks and special forces bases in each country. Team Metal is deployed to Hamburg, along with other U.S. forces, to rescue the U.S. Vice President from a hostage situation. Once the Vice-President was secured, the Americans join the European Union to began to counter-offensive against the Russians, effectively starting World War III.
Utilizing intelligence from MacMillan, Price and his team raids a compound belonging to a warlord in Somalia named Waraabe. Upon raiding the compound, the 141 learns of Volk's identity as the bomb-maker and his location in Paris. Price contacts Sandman about their findings, but some of the sectors are still contaminated by the chemical attack, so it'll be impossible to locate Volk. Aided by the GIGN forces, Team Metal was able to locate Volk in the catacombs and manages to capture him, but the Russians have the team outnumbered. Team Metal eventually fights to an extraction point with the help of an AC-130 gunship, but are pinned down at a bridge near Eiffel Tower, and are forced to wait for air support to aid them. The resulting air strike causes the tower to eventually collapse into the river after the bombing run eliminates all Russian forces at the extraction point, pushing the Russians out of France.
Team Metal learns from Volk of Makarov's hiding at the Hotel Lustig in Prague, where he is about to call a meeting with his top advisors. Price's team infiltrates the locked-down city, meeting up with Loyalist Kamarov, now an organizer for the Czech Resistance, to assassinate Makarov. Yuri and Soap take up sniping positions from a church tower across from the hotel, but Kamarov himself is taken hostage and rigged with explosives. Price, who sneaks into the building, escapes the hotel just as Kamarov is blown up. Makarov reveals that he knows Yuri personally, by acknowledging him as his former "friend". Makarov then detonates rigged explosives in Yuri and Soap's overwatch spot. Soap and Yuri are not killed by the explosion, but the former is gravely wounded from the height he had fallen, causing his knife wound to reopen. Yuri helps him and escapes with Price to a resistance safehouse. As Yuri tries to help, Soap tells Price that Makarov and Yuri know each other before dying. After leaving his Colt M1911 pistol used to kill Imran Zakhaev, with Soap's body, and recovering Soap's dog tags and journal, an enraged Price punches Yuri down a staircase and holds him at gunpoint, demanding him to explain his connection with Makarov.
Yuri explains that he was once a former Ultranationalist who befriended Makarov when they were both escorts for Imran Zakhaev. They evacuated Zakhaev from the arms deal at Price's 1996 assassination mission in Pripyat, and later witnessed Makarov detonating a nuclear device in the Middle East, that killed 30,000 Marines. Yuri was astonished by the event, and attempted to stop the massacre at the Zakhaev International Airport in Moscow, but Makarov was aware that he would betray him and shoots him in the stomach for his betrayal. Yuri's guilt barely convinces Price in maintaining their alliance.
After infiltrating Makarov's castle near Prague and learning of President Vorshevsky's captivity, Price alerts Team Metal of an Ultranationalist plan to abduct Alena Vorshevsky from a safehouse in Berlin, where she had been hiding during the conflict. On October 13th, in Berlin, Team Metal was able to push the remaining Russian forces from Germany, but they were unable to prevent them from kidnapping Alena. However, theye were able to trace Makarov's Ultranationalists to a Siberian diamond mine. Together with Task Force 141 (minus Frost), they ensure the safety of President Vorshevsky and Alena. However, during extraction, Sandman, Grinch, and Truck are forced to stay behind to buy the evacuation chopper some time and are killed when the mine collapses on them. With the Russian president secured, the Russians withdraw from Europe, thus ending the hostility between the United States and Russia.
On January 21, 2017, three months after war ends, Price, Yuri, and Nikolai finally manage to track down Makarov to the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai. Price and Yuri assault the hotel with E.O.D. armor, making their way to the top floor as Makarov's escape helicopter approaches the hotel. With only minutes left before Makarov escapes, Price and Yuri press through the casino and the atrium to find him; however, a Little Bird decimates the upper site of the hotel in an attempt to eliminate both men. As a result, both men are badly wounded, with Yuri impaled on a metal rod. At first, Price hesitates to pursue Makarov after witnessing Yuri's condition, but the latter insists he will be fine and tells Price to not let him get away., forcing Price to go on alone. Price hijacks Makarov's helicopter by killing the pilots and damaging the controls in the process, thus causing the helicopter to crash on the roof, where he confronts Makarov. Yuri intervenes before Makarov can kill Price, but is himself killed by Makarov. This gives Price enough time to beat down Makarov and wrap a steel cable around his neck. Price then smashes the glass floor under them, hanging Makarov and ending the Ultranationalist movement, once and for all. Price survives the fall and smokes a cigar in front of Makarov's corpse as the police arrive.

Still, Modern Warfare 3's campaign suffers from a run of the mill story and the patented Call of Duty monster closet syndrome, a common shooter ailment that occurs when infinitely spawning enemies pour from around corners, doors and stairs without end. At several points enemies even appear to completely disregard their own safety if it means they can run past your allies and just shoot you in the face. The story is difficult to follow as usual, and while it does wrap up the arc begun by the previous Modern Warfare games, it isn't ultimately all that interesting or satisfying. Moments of emotional weight fell flat as I found it difficult to muster up feelings of sadness about the death of one named soldier after witnessing the countless deaths of hundreds of other Americans.
If singleplayer is good, then Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer is fantastic. Like the other Call of Duty games before it, this entry pulls you in with its persistent leveling system and frantic combat. All of the sixteen new maps are fun to play and, with a whole new slew of challenges to complete, rewards constantly pop up and keep you hooked with the next little endorphin rush. No matter whether I play for five minutes or five hours, multiplayer in Modern Warfare 3 always makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something.
The graphics of the game relive the name of Call Of Duty and are completely exotic giving you a taste that you will never forget. In terms of graphical fidelity, Infinity Ward's latest effort is about as visually appealing as its predecessor, which was about as visually appealing as its predecessor. No, I don't stutter. Unfortunately, the company has focused on optimizing the game for consoles while ignoring PC development for the last five years. If you're itching to see how your DirectX 10 or 11 GPU handles a DX9 engine, then maybe MW3 has something to offer you.
Those playing the game on Xbox 360 will find that it runs at a resolution of 1024x600 with 2x multisample anti-aliasing. Naturally, PC gamers are afforded a broader range of resolutions along with 4x MSAA, but there are few visual enhancements beyond that. Considering our platform of choice, it's disappointing to see the lack of progress.
Below are some screenshots comparing Modern Warfare 3 to its 2009 predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. You can click each image for a detailed 2560x1600 shot. Because they're two different games, it's impossible to get identical shots, therefore we have done our best to make the comparisons as similar as possible. We understand this is a crude method, but the results speak for themselves.

Here we focused on sniper rifle scopes. Please note that these images are completely unaltered. This is how they appear at 2560x1600. MW3's visuals are near to identical to those of MW2. The texture quality is very much the same and so is sharpness and AA.

Here's a shot of ground textures. While MW2 looks much better in my opinion, the quality of the textures does vary from scene to scene. Overall, they're about even.

MW3's vegetation looks very poor. It could just be because I've recently tested Crysis 2 with high res-textures along with Battlefield 3, but the vegetation seen above is not of 2011 standards. Even when compared to the older version, we feel the graphical quality of MW3 is questionable at best.

The textures used for the environment vary during the game, however I feel there was more detail throughout the MW2 single player campaign -- including the walls seen above. It seems like there was greater care taken to make certain aspects of the game seem unique.

Finally, the character models aren't much different -- though we can admit that they look great for a DX9 title. Graphics aside, it's worth noting that this guy makes an appearance as a sniper in both games. Pure coincidence we're sure.
Despite its flaws, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 takes the fantastic series we’ve come to love over the years and iterates on it with great success. The multiplayer is hands-down the best it has ever been, with more features, more modes and a ton of new levels and ways to interact via Call of Duty Elite. The singleplayer campaign and Spec Ops mode add value to the overall package, creating something that may not be perfect, but is too damn addicting to pass up.
